Russian "Monocrystal" increases production of 2-inch sapphire plates with 4 to 5 million units a month to satisfy needs of Apple for sapphire, reports the Digitimes edition referring to sources in branch. The company was chosen as one of the main suppliers of components for hours of Apple Watch. Appeal of the Russian production increased because of decrease in a rouble exchange rate. Increase in production will help "Monocrystal" to occupy 30 percent of the world market.

Other main supplier of sapphire plates which are used in manufacturing of glass for smart hours of Apple, the Chinese Harbin Aurora Optoelectronics Technology is. The company hopes that producers of smartphones in China also will pass to use of sapphire glass instead of a usual sheeting. However, as declare sources, it is interfered by its high cost. If 5-inch shock-resistant glass costs 3 dollars, sapphire the same size – about 40 dollars.

Production of Japanese Kyocera became also to more competitive thanks to weakening of a course of local currency. However its 4-inch sapphire plate is more expensive for 1 dollar of the Russian.
