The first-ever solar velodorozhka is constructed in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands there was a first-ever bicycle path from solar panels. During construction works the 70-meter site of the road being a part of the SolaRoad project on creation of power producing public roads was open.
By 2016 the extent of a solar velodorozhka in Krommeni’s located in 25 kilometers from the capital of the Netherlands the small town, will increase by 100 meters. The energy received in such a way will suffice to provide with an electricity three houses nearby. In the future it is planned to cover with similar panels the most part of local roads, writes the German magazine Greenpeace Magazin.
In the long term roads will make energy for houses, electromobiles, streetlights and traffic lights. Routes will be made so that effectively to serve local needs for an electricity.
Velodorozhka consists of concrete plates with the built-in solar modules with a high-strength covering from glass. The design maintains loading from lorries and does not collapse roots of trees. The paving is also steady against the wear caused by rain water, ice and snow.
Productivity of the road is influenced by such factors, as a hade of sunshine, dirt and a dust. Developers say that the road module makes for 30 percent less electricity, than similar on a building roof. Nevertheless the sense in such solar installations is – they supplement already existing road constructions.
By company estimates, solar roads are capable to pay back themselves in 20 years.
In Holland to cyclists the special relation.
